Forgot Swallowed Whole. Its R.E.M.-inspired intro is enough to win me over. I'm good with Sleeping By Myself, too. It's a little kitsch maybe, sure, but, I find it charming.
the frustrating thing about swallowed whole is that it has all that REM/great outdoors energy drained from it. gigaton and DM really make it clear how sterile and lifeless the LB production is. i love the songs
Sterile and lifeless production is exactly the problem. The dreamer in me likes to imagine them going back to this one and approaching each song from the album as a demo for which the Dark Matter song creation process will be applied.
Release the Josh Evans cut!
There actually is a live versions album or playlist, no?

I am more a pearl jam studio guy than live, and unfortunately the tour lightning bolt was predominantly played on was not their best work

Support all comments re: production, sadly.
All for a Josh Evans LB: Re-deux!

Listened to this about two weeks ago for the first time in awhile. I think it still remains my least favorite, but I definitely like some some songs. Not sure if I have any real standouts, but I'll go back and listen to the album from time to time.
I like Pendulum best, then probably Mind Your Manners. I also really like what they did with Sleeping By Myself. I think the full band version is much better than the Uke version. It makes me thinks that PJ could possibly dabble more in alt. county if they really wanted to (Drifting, Thin Air, Sunburn, 25 Minutes To Go, Puzzles & Games, 1st part of Setting Sun).

This album has a lot of songs I like a lot. I like the 2016 boots I've heard that still prominently feature LB. I love Getaway, swallowed whole, sleeping by myself, pendulum and infallible. I really like MFS, yellow moon, LB and MYM as well.

I decided a few weeks ago that I might actually like this album. I would definitely take it over Backspacer and still debating about its placement over S/T... but most importantly I LOVE the artwork... I'm drawn to it in some weird way.
I wish I could give it 3.5 stars
Best songs: MFS, Infallible, Swallowed Whole, Yellow Moon
