snatch texted me his predictive interpretation of this song a couple days before it’s release, and I legitimately remember that much more clearly than the actual song. Definitely listened to it more times.
Remember when we actually got pretty close to predicting what Never Destination was going to sound like?

I can’t wait for the next batch of titles, I’m gonna go hog wild
So I see you guys talking about this song. Figure I must have missed it or something. Go through the trouble of tracking it down then go to put it in my PJ folder and copy of the song is sitting in there already from over a year ago. I'm old.

I think Get It Back should've been included on Gigaton. I think it fits the overall mood and aesthetic of the album far better than Never Destination, which, is, imo, basically a Backspacer track on steroids, i.e., two-dimensional moderate rock with beefier production. ND has some nice lyrical passages, but it feels somewhat derivative and out of place.
I think GIB would've benefitted from an extended outro and maybe a guitar flourish here or there, but I just shake my head at the idea of Ed cutting this out for yet another one of his songs which would've been better suited for a side project. Must he still insist on reminding us he's still the dominant songwriter in this band?
At very least, he could've included GIB along with ND and the rest.

I don’t think there was any chance they were gonna leave Never Destination off the album because of the little Tom Petty tribute verse near the end of it.
