I've got a break from Zoom meetings at 12. Looking forward to hearing this, although WWC meets Binaural/Let it Ride comparisons don't speak to my PJ wheelhouse

Honestly it sounds like some of those instrumental tracks from the S/T sessions that leaked a few years ago with some great ed vocals.

Nothing Binaural here.
Yeah, you're right. The ST demos are probably closest. On first listen this didn't really light any fires under me. I liked the solo at the end, but the music had a twinkly kind of plodding qualtiy that didn't excite me, and this is a register/cadence that I don't think showcases Eddie's strengths (or at least the things I like to see). Some of his vowel annunciations are fairly noticeable. There is nothing particularly playful or limber in his delivery, or any particular emotional intensity. There are a few moments that try to lift off a bit, but the sludgey music during those points really prevent it from lifting off. What little of the lyrics I could make out didn't really excite me, but that takes time to unpack (or even fully hear).
Reminds me a little bit of Amongst the Waves with less personality. This was a bit of a swing and a miss for me. I can see why this didn't make Gigaton, which 6 months out I still adore.

The WWC/Matt Cameron influence is very strong here, and he is easily my least favorite writer in the band (although my second favorite drummer), so this is clearly a song not written for the stips of the world.
