I think this is the first acoustic-Eddie-folkie-type song that really feels like it has some musical meat to it -- there is a lot going on melodically, things that don't stick out as remarkable in the first verse but which feel increasingly sharp and clever as they repeat themselves (and vary slightly), and as you begin to anticipate where the lyrical payoffs are going to come. It may be the first of these kinds of songs that gives the impression that the composition came first and the aesthetic was chosen deliberately because it fit, not because it just happened to spill out when Eddie picked up his acoustic one day. There's a Richard Thompson-y vibe to it that I really, really like. I wish it was the closer.
pretty meh overall. I think layers would have helped. Eddie at least tried to make an interesting song. it's just boring. what an overall way to end the album with FOUR slow songs in a row.
so this is the pete townshend song i read about. he even recognizes it in the lyrics. is ed's guitar playing different on here? i feel like some of this is new for him. it almost has a country feel to it. also the vocals are great.

Huh, from the reviews I expected this to be one of the worst song but now I think it's one of the best. Feels like Eddie in Riot Act songwriting mode but in a sunnier/lighter version.
