Bass or no bass, this (and QE) are the best rockers since at least Binaural. This song is obviously super Soundgarden, but fuckn a, they did it justice in every way. I always want to replay this one after my first listen.

Are you guys saying there’s no bass track on this tune at all?

That’s what has been implied. I’m not convinced either way.

There’s definitely a bass being played in this song.

I think so too, but it’s not easy to pinpoint. The bass drum and heavy guitars obscure it a bit.

Which would be different from the rest of this album, no? I wish this song had more bass.

I don't think the bass drum is too loud; if anything, all of the guitars are fairly buried in the mix; it's normal for the bass to be a bit lower than the guitars, so maybe that's why it sounds so absent

Definitely different, but appropriate for the song, I think. I guess I should say, I don’t think the song suffers without an obvious bass line. I love it either way.

I wonder if it was all mixed this way to put the drums right at the forefront and showcase Matt?

That’s a logical guess. As good as any!

It’s there. It’s just very rhythmic and mostly underneath the mix. But there are a few moments it’s is evident for sure. Mostly in the verses, but it seems to be throughout.

I feel like I can hear it better from the guitar solo till the end

It is throughout. He’s not playing any notes in the lower register of the bass. The notes he is playing are the same ones the guitars are playing so it masks the bass a bit. Similar to what he played in the chorus in Porch where he played the higher octave notes.

Exactly. You were just much more precise in your description that I was. But I hear it exactly that way as well.

This song makes me imagine driving fast through a snowstorm at night.

This is one of the most played songs on the album for me. Definitely in my top 5 favorite songs on the album. Very energetic and I love the crunchy guitars. Ed’s vocals sound so good in this track. Best drumming on the album here as well.
