I really think the first six is may be the best opening run in the entire Pearl Jam catalog. Yield might be better... ? But it's close.

I love that it goes in a bunch of different directions. The ambient music leading into those first strums from Ed just sucks me into the whole thing and then the song never lets go.
The bridge is once again a highlight. The weird guitar 'solo' after the first chorus is also wonderful. Or is it a synthesizer? Sounds like a mix of both, it freaks me out and I love it.
Have we all agreed that Ed says, "Hit me with your rhythm stick" at the start before the guitar starts? Bizarre and awesome
