They don’t seem to ever just call him Matt. It’s always Matt Cameron.
“Hey, Matt Cameron! How are you?”
“Matt Cameron, we’re going to meet later for sushi. Wanna come?”
“I’m glad you’re in our band, Matt Cameron.”
One of my favorite things in Californication was Duchovny always addressing Rick Springfield as Rick Springfield.
Our oldest’s group of friends in high school had a kid they all referred to with first and last name. Sam Vance. It was great.
I got a buddy who is a fantastic and very entertaining storyteller. He always refers to people using first and last name. Kicks the story up a notch.
When talking directly to them does he use both?
No, and I hear you about Matt Cameron but I’m pretty sure that they use his full name when talking about him and not directly to him (even if he is righ there sitting on the same couch).
But this is still a pretty funny observation.
They still see him as “external” like … there’s this great drummer out there and somehow we got him (outsider) to play with us (original crew).
They’ll never see him as an equal. It’s lonely at the top.

He’s not equal. He’s leagues above them.
That kid I was talking about, that would actually use both names when talking TO him as well as about him. It was great. He’s a good kid and just went right along with it.
