Matt Cameron is a beast. Best PJ drummer? Not sure. I don't think he does all he is capable of in this band. If you haven't checked out Wellwater Conspiracy, you are missing out.

Kind of ruined Pearl Jam.
Disagreed. I think it's a bit facile to relate Matt joining PJ and their perceived artistic decline. Consider that some of the best PJ songs of the last 13 years have been Matt's. And they made Binaural with Matt. I think Pearl Jam-- and Ed, specifically-- just chose to go a different direction about 5 years after Matt joined.

I just meant that I don't really care for the way his drumming style meshes with the band, I don't have the same issue with any of their previous drummers.
I gave up listening to Pearl Jam from mid-1998 until around 2004, so I never really heard Matt drumming with the band til then. I started collecting live shows around that time and found Matt's drumming really off-putting, it took a long time to get used to. I still don't think he's a particularly good fit, I'm reminded of that whenever I go back to the studio albums or an earlier show with Dave or Jack on drums.
He's responsible for most of my favourite Pearl Jam moments over the last fifteen years, but I guess that's part of that creative mismatch: Matt's style only really works for me in Pearl Jam for me when he's forcing the other guys to play to his strengths, rather than him trying to find a way to compliment theirs.

Playing the songs really fast might not have been Matt's idea. The bands decline has nothing to do with Matt, in fact he might have delayed it by joining the band when he did.

Mike and Ed both play the songs faster. I think it has more to do with them than Matt. Ed doesn't have that timing that creates tension when he plays anymore. The beginning of Corduroy or I Got Shit being two examples. Matt just keeps up. Matt does create a bunch of fills though, which to me feels like he's just filling space with as many hits as possible.

I agree, but matt didnt take the job away from jack, and weather its just the guys blowing smoke or not, they say matt saved the band from calling it quits after jack left, so i love him for that. And he is a heck of a good drummer
