This question has come to mind since I keep seeing the comment that Matt Cameron is a bad drummer, and that is:
Has Matt ever created a memorable drum beat or drum part? I can't think of any of the top of my head unlike for Dave Kruzen (Why Go), Dave Abbruzzese (take your pick), Jack Irons (Who You Are, Sky I Scrape).
Anything in between Hitchhikers Puzzle and Game Sweet Lew Thunderclap Grievance Sleight of Hand Can't Keep Save You HelpHelp Marker in the sand Gonna See My Friend Got Some
And whats Dave A memorable drum part besides the looped one on WMA?
Yes of course—Grievance and Light Years. I gotta go back and hear the other ones. For Dave, i was thinking also of Go, Last Exit, Whipping.

I hate to say it, but the drums on vitalogy are great. More restrained. Less of all the crazy cymbal hit fills. Nothing man, last exit, corduroy. All awesome.
And I love the Jack Irons boots from 96 and early 98 (Australia). A bit of swing and space that lets the songs breathe.
Still, without Matt, we don't get the band energized for the 98 US tour, and he plays fantastic on the 2000 boots. But I still really don't think they figured out how to record Matt (for a full album) until Gigaton. I love what he brings to the group.
Earlier Matt drums I like:
God's dice The ending jam of Half full (More of this please) (probably my favorite moment on the album). Get Right Unemployable Grievance Cropduster You are
I'm sure others will come to mind.
