Yes, I think there are enough crumbs of information to confirm they've at least rehearsed/jammed/recorded several songs with Watt over the past year or two.

The cycle: new album, promise in ensuing 3 years they won’t wait so long and tell us there’s material sitting around, start recording 3 years in but take your time to the tune of at least 2 years, build up hype for new album over the next year, release poorly received single, start over, wait 2 more years.

Not only is this likely to be the first year since I subscribed to Spotify that Pearl Jam won’t be my most listened to artist, but they may not make my fancy top 5 for the year.

Good for you both!
I must say, new PJ is not high on my list of "things I feel I really need" these days. Don't get me wrong, I certainly wouldn't complain to get it, just not something I'm particularly invested in nor have much in the way of hope for (from a quality perspective). There's soooo much good stuff out there.

I mean, there’s always so much good stuff and the wish for new Pearl Jam isn’t to fill a void of no good music, it’s a complaint (half serious only - I don’t need it by any measure) rooted in wanting the excitement surrounding their new music.

Im super exited they are making new music. I want it now. Everything else fades when it’s new Pearl Jam coming.
Yeah this generally holds true for me too. I am not as convinced that will be the case this time around. The long gaps are impacting my enthusiasm. I mean Lightning Bolt is nearly 10 years old and we’ve only had one album since then.

I still think Gigaton is a start to finish solid album but that's partly due to its producer, so on one level I'm nervous but also I have to hope they'd want to make something at least that good; I don't need better, on a par would be fine
I just don't want a Pop Jam album (not because I don't like pop but because they're not very good at it)
