Sometimes I think it would be cool if there was a version of "Parting Ways" with Ed O'Brien on guitar and Phil Selway on drums, with really nice harmony vocals from Neil Finn, and then it occurs to me, "Wait a minute, there is a version of 'Parting Ways' with Ed O'Brien on guitar and Phil Selway on drums, with really nice harmony vocals from Neil Finn!" I love everything about this song. It has this sense of a volcano ready to explode. Right beneath the surface. You can feel it, you know its coming....at some point....just not now.
The tension gets me everytime. Along with the subtle playing and the great lyrics and vocals.

5 star song for sure. Really like the "volcano ready to explode at some point" reference in strat's post - this song just nails a certain kind of tension, like when a relationship begins to unravel.
