They're all over the place. I think there has been a general drop off in lyric quality on the last three albums but others may disagree.

I was more enthralled with their lyrics when I was a kid, and they probably won't be teaching Pearl Jam lyrics in Literature class at Harvard anytime soon. But when you combine the lyrics with the music, I do think Pearl Jam has created some magical songs, and the lyrics are an important part of that. I also agree with surfndestroy.
