What always suprises me is that Dave A never found a permanent position elsewhere.
He was fired from the biggest band in the world. He was living Seattle, how come we have never seen him in any wellknown band?

What about contemparies? The Pumpkins were looking for a drummer in '97. But he was not considered. Dave Grohl was looking for one in '95/'96. Perry Farrel had a couple of projects. He had one session with Axl Rose, but Slash and Duff also had a couple of projects. Ministry had a different drummer every 3 years, and he befriended them at Lolla '92.

Other heavy Seattle bands like: 'Heart', or 'Queensryche', or any other band? Or any post grunge band? He had starpower, had was an excellent drummer.

He started his own band 'Green Romance Orchestra' in '95 orso. But they did not play much. He did some sessions work lately for Shawn Smith and Peter Cornell (Chris's brother). The last couple of years he played with Stevie Salas for a bit, but that's it!

I mean Dave Krusen is still touring the world with 'Candlebox'. First in 1998 and now for the last couple of years more permanently.

Maybe Ed and Jeff put the word out he was an asshole and nobody wanted to work with him because of it.

It wouldn't necessarily surprise me (from the RIP Cornell thread):

It is weirdthat Dave seemed to go from "cover of drumming magazines" to being almost entirely off the radar. I'm surprised he hasn't done more drum clinics and things of that nature, you'd think he'd be a good fit for that kind of thing.

Is there any suggestion that Pearl Jam and/or their management poisoned the well for the guy in the industry? I remember quotes from Brad drummer Regan Hagar being convinced that had happened with the first Brad album, though who knows if that's not just a bit of sour grapes/paranoia.

yeah, we don't know the whole story here.
It could be band or labelpolitics. But that could only be till 2002, that's when their labeldeal was done.
And it sure didn't matter for Krusen or Irons.

Another weird thing is that Brendan O'Brien also knows how good Dave A is. And BO'B is such a huge figure in the industry. He has recorded many many albums for which he needed a sessiondrummer. In the last two years he did Wolfmother, Cornell and The Last Internationale. For those he used Josh Freese, Matt Chamberlain and Brad Wilk. The same names keep popping up in the PJ universe, but not Dave A's.

Dave A is clearly not good with PR....

Or as he said he was done with the business side of it. He got burned. He makes money from PJ still and doesn't need to do any old project.

This is an interesting perspective!

Differences are explained really good. PJ always had the right drummer at the right time..
