My favorite song off of my favorite album. Love this song so much. The lyrics, the music, the build up. Everything. My only "complaint" is that I have yet to hear a live version that remotely compares to the album version. One of the very few that I can say that about. But I think a big reason for that is the way this was recorded and just the general ambience I get when I hear it on the album. I don't think that will ever be replicated and that doesn't really bother me at all...

I was lucky enough to catch this in Greenville 1998 and Boston 2003. About 100 of us stood silent while they soundchecked it at the Gorge in 2006 and I was sure we would get it, but no such luck.
Stone's song writing is what built this band (Even Flow, Alive, etc.), but the diversity he brought to Yield is one reason I'm a long term fan. All Those Yesterdays felt so left field, but so right for Pearl Jam. I love that one as much now as I did when we played the hell out of it in 1998.
The buildup and the backing vocals at the end resonate with me. I love this as a finale to the record, and I also love how they begin Single Video Theory with it.

This is such a great song, and I'd agree that I've never heard a live version that came close to what they captured in the studio. It may be my fourth or fifth favorite on Yield, but that says less about how great this song is than how great that record is.

this song has been owning me lately. the quiet build up, the tuba or whatever the hell that is that kicks in, the way it all comes together at the end. top notch pearl jam tune. i know people compare it to the beatles, but eddie vedder is a better singer than anyone in the beatles. and this song feels a little looser than most beatles songs.
