I'm working on digitizing a band's live concert vault right now and you would be surprised (maybe not) at what a fucking slog it is, no matter how much you love the band. Then you've got the band themselves, who more often than not couldn't give two shits about listening to an old concert, let alone a vault full of them.
My guess is that Pearl Jam doesn't feel like hiring someone and letting them go into the vault to slog through all this shit. Many of their choices for vault releases so far have been nonsensical and beyond lazy.

They enacted a rigorous selection process involving every member of the band and surrounding organization, wherein management-organized groups were assigned shows to evaluate. It was very democratic, with actual band member feedback being no more highly placed than the lowest of Ed’s manicurists.
Each group was expected to maintain their findings in an Excel spreadsheet on the team SharePoint. Extensive training in how to use the consultant-designed scoring tool preceded a tightly focused review window, at which point all the results were tallied. The top three choices were revealed to be Seattle shows. In response, Jeff fucking destroyed everyone using only his fists and beard, and then said “It’s gonna be a fucking Montana show. Hare Krishna!” Nine months later, nearly a dozen women who had been in or near the room at the time of his ouburst gave birth, as did Stone Gossard.

If I remember correctly, don’t they usually list a date for how long these are available to purchase? Limited edition offer available until xxxx. I’ve definitely missed previous vaults by waiting too long.

I would like some '96ish era shows too but if they were to release a recent one I would want this:

Only the vinyl is limited edition and it usually sells out in about 15 seconds.

maybe the purpose of this vault release is to highlight PJ's fallibility
and then the next vault release will be totally stellar
and the contrast will be stark
and it will speak volumes about their complexity
and beauty

That's not true. They take forever to ship them b/c they don't make them until after they close up the pre-order. They don't sell out.

Well fuck me sideways!
Well, they ARE limited, b/c once the pre-order closes, they don't make any more.

i thought i saw McCready walking his dog down our street a few weeks ago (he has a house somewhere around here), but it was just the old lesbian a few doors down.
