However, I remember back in the pre/post Avocado days Mike saying something about them releasing an EP. I also sort of remember EP talk when they left Epic and they weren't exactly sure what their future releases would look like because they were "exploring options".
I always thought that would be a great idea. Instead of forcing an album, or waiting for side projects, family commitments, etc to settle down, just release an EP of (hopefully) really solid material, and hit the road every year or so.
If Avo, BS and LB were all 4-5 track EPs instead of bloated with crap tracks, it'd have been a massive improvement.
1) Life Wasted 2) Severed Hand 3) Unemployable 4) Army Reserve 5) Wasted Reprise
1) Got Some 2) Just Breathe 3) Unthought Known 4) Force of Nature + The End hidden
1) Pendulum 2) Mind Your Manners 3) Sirens 4) Swallowed Whole
I agree. Though I think with the albums I could easily pick a top 3, it would be the 4th and 5th tracks I'd have trouble deciding on.... maybe they should just do singles.

The problem with that is half of the releases would be WWS and The Fixer etc. which few would care for.

I think they should be eternally grateful that he didn't dump them in their heyday to pursue what would have probably been a very successful solo career.

So they can't replace him now.

Obviously I'd be upset if this turned out to be a more serious vocal thing. But the potential upside is that he might start to reel it in and try to write some songs that are more comfortably within his range now. Like how he originally did songs like Off He Goes, Of the Girl, and Driftin', before he got all breathy? It would be great if he did a whole record like that.

^^^^^ THIS. Just listen to the old MLB version of Crown of Thorns vs. PJ's. He has taken them from a band that would have some success to a band that could have retired 20 years ago if they wanted.

Then give him a severance package for crying out loud. Ed can still perform solo but if the band wants to keep playing all the screamy yelly stuff they will need a replacement.
