"Somewhere" playing next. He likens it to The Kinks' "Well Respected Man." This one is more up-tempo, sounds more like Devo than The Kinks to me. It's a fun one, I could see it growing on me.

Yeah, I like this one a lot too. So three really strong tracks so far (The Noise The Noise, Somewhere, Moment of Impact). Not feeling the other two very much, but this is promising. I've got to unplug now and head out, but I'm excited for this to come out on Friday.

There are moments on this album that I enjoyed yet I’m not sure I enjoyed any whole song. Lots of ideas and I need to listen again and I will. Jeff’s voice isn’t strong enough to hold my attention yet somehow the last song (Only One) reminded me of Win butler in tone and melody.
I could hear Ed on Are you Truing but only in parts.
Lots of ideas here and very rooted in early 80s think Joy Division, early U2, even Costello and The Atrractions, definitely The Kinks.

This bit worries me
Jeff seems to oscillate between hating touring and loving touring, but he never seems to want to stop creating new compelling music. Too bad the rest of the band seems to love the road, and be perfectly fine dropping a mediocre turd of an album.
Listened to the album, i really like it. Lots of cool thing buried in the background, some very interesting ideas and some very weird ones. He sounds pretty confident and good too...the first half is very good, while the second one is more midtempo, more similar to While My Hearts...
These songs are far more interesting than what PJ has delivered in 10 years. I hate to say it. Not saying I like the songs more (though I might) but they are far more itneresting to listen to. Layers, tones, structure....all over the place, unique, and interesting.
Just let JA write on the music, let the band play on it, and let Ed sing.
