it's likely the newness, but I'm still very impressed they were able to make something just as good - if not better than - Gigaton.

All I know is the Spotify version of Wreckage sounds noticeably better than the leak version. So maybe there’s a sliver of hope for the slower/mid-tempo songs. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

it does, and if you tinker with the eq to your linking, it will sound even better :)

oh and make sure you have payback quality set to highest.

For sure, I use a slightly modified hip-hop preset EQ and it really works for my setup. Probably not the absolute best for clarity but it removes the extreme brightness which is my main complaint and still works for 99% of the other stuff I listen to.

The real test of competence will be the LP. Does it even credit a dedicated vinyl mastering engineer? I’ll wait to buy until we get some clarity

Did someone say FLAC??

I'd appreciate a link if possible. Although I'm tempted to wait until tomorrow, but I'm weak!

From what I can tell, this does appear to be the FLAC rip... even though, still sausage city, at least it's not redlining like yesterday's rip.
Also, yesterday's file was 488 MB, today's file is 733 MB.

Geez, LUFS of -6.4!!! Haha, what's the point of that when Spotify is going to pull that down to -14 anyway?

I've still only heard Dark Matter, Running and Wreckage and I can't tell if that makes me a winner or a loser (maybe both). :haha:

Your long-term hearing is a winner... your soul, heart, body and mind is a loser

I believe that's the size of the compressed RAR file (I'm seeing 344 MB)

After converting flac to wav and rendering all tracks together into 1 full tracklist wav, that's where my 488 vs 733 comparison is coming from

So early here, need to dig into some of the lyrics more, but this is fantastic. With Gigaton, BS, LB there were songs that I had to try to talk myself into liking (most songs on LB), but I don't really have that here. Not every song is 4-5 stars, but pleasantly shocked by this.

How odd, I've extracted the album and it's in my music folder still showing as 361mb.

Yeah, I don't know why I'm even worrying about it as I'm sure the hi-res will be available to buy tomorrow.

Hmm, I'm assuming those files are still in FLAC then? The converted WAV files are larger.

I may just be making this up in my head, but the FLAC files are compressed as well. So when they're converted to .wav I imagine that number goes up.
