this reminds me: Since its not 1996 and no one uses dial-up connections any more, the restrictions on avatar size should be relaxed a bit.

My specific problem is that when I use google to search up a 90x90 picture for avatar purposes the end result is something that is about 10% smaller than all of the other avatars on RM.

You can crop and resize any image you want. My avatar started out as a screen grab from a DVD. I'd suggest an avatar with a face, so it looks like your avatar is saying the things you post.

Nah, I like the uniformity. Some bozo would inevitably upload a gigantic, page-destroying avatar.

zeb: find a photo you want to use, upload it to Photobucket and resize/crop as desired using the in-built tools.
