A gmail account that I don't recognize just emailed a $1250 PayPal invoice to another gmail account I don't recognize then BCC'd my gmail on it. The invoice was for an iphone 13. The PayPal customer service number on the bottom of the email felt weird when I called it, and he hung up on me after I answered "yes" to the question "are you calling from a work phone?"
I emailed the sender but gmail returned it with an "email doesn't exist" notice. Now I am emailing the intended recipient. This is all so troubling.

This is more about the phone calls than the electronic networks, but I used to have fun wasting the time of the callers. I'm over that now and just tell them that I don't have whatever it is they're trying to trick me about (a car, a phone, a computer) in hopes that I will be deleted from their lists

Don't get me wrong. You should absolutely take your self-satisfied story about harassing well-meaning phone bankers to the scambaiting thread. I just wanted to clarify that phone viruses and whatnot are within this thread's purview.
