I can't believe I've waiting until now to ask, but does anyone know of a simple PC program for A/B testing two audio files (i.e. having them both playing at once in sync and then switch between them)?

I've used Quicktime previously by 'alt-tabbing' between two playing files, but...

Would a multi track program like Audacity achieve that?

Belated thanks for the feedback guys. Audacity does indeed let you play multitracks, but AB testing is a bit clunky as you have to mute and unmute manually as they play to compare (as far as I can tell anyway).

I found a free Foobar component that does really easy ABX testing (trialling whether you can identify which version is which, while switching between them at the click of a button). Here's the link if you're interested

Audacity doesn't have a "solo" option on a track instead of mute? That would reduce muting one and unmuting the other to one click if it works like it does on Audition.

Didn't know about 'solo' option - will check it out. Thanks! :nice:

I've not used Audacity for years, no idea if this will work. If it in fact solos multiple tracks at the same time, a surefire way to do this is to get ProTools First (their free offering), and you can use their "Solo X-Or" mode to swap solos between tracks (one button click)

It does, it's right next to "mute"

No that S is for "slaps." It's what St. Vincent used on her new album.
