Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I've set my PC to have a static ip, and in my router I've set the port my bittorrent client uses to forward to my pc's ip address, but I'm still not getting any incoming connections and when I use one of those web based services to check if the port is open it comes up closed.

Anyone smarter than me have any ideas?

No, it looks like everything they reference is set correctly. I had seen that post before I came here too.

Also, like I said, when I pop the port I'm using into this wigit it comes back closed.

This is serious business. Downloading the Wildflowers & All the Rest 5 cd set in 24-bit really killed my ratio.

why no dynamic ip

Post subject:  Re: Port Forwarding

Because you need the pc to have a consistent internal ip address.

Did you open the port on both the router firewall and your pc software firewall?

I don't know what makes me feel dumber: the fact that I didn't think of this or the fact that I can't figure out how to get it done now that I have.

Related question: Should I stop using AVG and just use windows firewall?

Imagine how terribly boring riveting and fun this thread would be in podcast form.

Progress. When I disable my firewall (AVG) on my pc the port shows up open with this tool.
