The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

What internet speed should I have in order to stream 4K UHD?
I live in the country and currently have pretty bad internet... just good enough to stream games and standard quality Netflix sometimes stops to load... I'm gonna research what else is available but I need to know what to look for. Thank you for your help.

Ours is a rural no-name broadband provider. Our original service was 5mbps download. We upgraded to 20mbps when we got the TCL TV and noticed a huge difference. BUT you'll need to learn how to setup your IP settings on the provider's page to give preference to games and movies over other data that other users may be simultaneously streaming.

How much does your rural internet cost? It's not satellite? All we have available is satellite options like ViaSat, which I hear nothing but bad things about, and this local tower that charges 100/mo for garbage..

Ours is $90/mo, for just broadband. They’re generally dependable for good quality image except during big events like the Super Bowl or SOTU addresses.

What kind of broadband? Cable, fiber optic, satellite?

i don't get any other options but ViaSat.. it says it's $70 for 25mbps, which seems nice but I remember reading something about satellite internet that's misleading.. hold on ... hold please.. researching... yup here it is

In the case of satellite internet, it’s how fast you send and receive files (the delay or how much lag there is). Since you have to send data to space, to your ISP and back again, satellite internet has poor latency, or a high ping rate. So satellite internet is not good for you if you’re a gamer or if you intend to use VoIP services.
hmm.. I wonder if this is worse than what I have now.. I wish there were some way for me to try it first

I have a 300MB connection and my sister has a Gigabit connection and a $4,000 Sony set.
Netflix's UHD stream is almost universally decried as shitty.
It's just compressed. I don't personally have issue with skin tones being too harsh in one way or another, but of course the quality doesn't compare to a physical copy.
