If you are talking about a Google mini, Amazon Echo Dot, or anything like that, then yes, you need an account to activate it. If you have a gmail account, you have a google account and will be fine for the Google speakers. Then you can link your spotify, amazon music, etc. to the account, so when you say "Alexa, play Sirens by Pearl Jam", you will be ready to go.

Ok thank you. What about Pandora?
So I know with Amazon, I think you can only link Spotify or Amazon Music. I'm not sure about Google. I have one of their speakers I just got for free from Spotify. You want it? It is the Google Mini.

Thanks again to Ruddo (RIP by the way) for the Google Mini.
I want to continue using it for voice controls, and get another speaker or two to sync up with it in order to play music in other parts of the house. What should I get exactly?
