My doctor recommended a book to me by a Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I haven't really had a doctor in the past so I recognize that I'm susceptible to suggestions from authority on the matter of healthy eating. So why not muddy the waters and ask the RM health trust for diverse opinions?
This pyramid looks...okay. I don't like the idea of cutting down on fish, poultry and eggs though.

Fuhrman takes a very hardline approach that completely disregards the cultural joys of eating. I think he's a good guy to learn about and to add to your worldview, but I wouldn't take his advice as gospel, you know?

I mean, he says as much in his intro at least. Rest assured I'm not taking anything as gospel regarding diet, but I'd love to have a solid guideline and research behind it. I'm just glad I lucked into a doctor who studies nutrition. Literally the first and closest number I called on my network's list of providers and he happened to be just the guy I've been looking for.

Everybody has input. Everybody has an idea of what works but only your body can tell you what works for you. Try out different plans and go with what feels best. And dont ever, ever, take enjoyment out of a grand meal when necessary. I know you wont.
I eat like 90% meat, dairy, pasta, breads, etc. I'm not unhealthy or overweight, but I get that I could be healthier. I simply enjoy food and see no sense in further making my life more miserable on the road to death.

I like your first rule a lot. It rang my bell
Thanks, me too. I think rule #3 is a way to cover my own ass if/when I start obsessing over labels when me and the lady are just stopping off at the store for basics.
Or when I really want a donut or that third beer.
