Hi, I'm Dr Bill. If you try not to scream, this will be a little more pleasant for both of us.

This weekend we went to our first Greenbelt Festival (it's a Christian festival at heart but very liberal / left-leaning / progressive) and saw a rather silly-but-awesome folk band called "Why?" that I was into during my teenage years. They had reformed to play a one-off nostalgia gig for Greenbelt's 40th anniversary. It made me feel old but pretty good about it. All their stuff is free, here.

Most music? Maybe "most" of a certain genre. I'm not sure I listen to anything with a "guest." Unless you count something like Petra Haden or Gillian Welch joining the Decemberists for an album or tour or something like that.

Yeah clarification may have helped. Seems to me that most music that appeals to the younger folk seems to the be by xxxxxx ft yyyy. And then I'm left saying who the fuck is xxxx. And yyyyy. I just don't have the effort anymore.

And then you have albums by QOTSA with 5-6 guests. It just seems a bit unnecessary.

It's definitely a trend in pop/hip-hop.

QOTSA is kind of a rotating thing anyway, isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that was kind of the spirit of that project.

I think it became that. Arctic Monkeys have Josh Homme guesting too. It seems quite prevalent. Even the likes of Ryan Adams having Emmylou or Marianne Faithfull or Sheryl Crow or Beth Orton etc etc.
Excuse me I'm just ranting.

This is the internet, rant away!

I see what you're saying. But is it all that more prevalent now than days past? Seems like Emmylou Harris has been on every country/folk/rock album recorded since 1964.

Maybe it's just the pop angle of FEAT. Wasn't there a time they said vs? Man, I am feeling old.

I made a Rainman reference talking to a couple millenial friends last night and neither one knew what I was talking about.

Biff is keeping this thread alive. I'm in Chicago right now. A young hustler tried to hand me his mixtape on the street. I'm 39, have loads of gray hair, and my plantar fasciitis has me limping, but that motherfucker made me feel young for a second. I politely declined.

Not my thing. I also saw Drake getting into his bus 20 feet from me while a dozen folks list their shit. I was disappointed when I saw who it was.
