I really think we need this thread in GD separate from the biking thread in the sports forum.

I often find myself wanting to talk about my commute, or the culture in bike friendly cities, bike restorations... that kind of stuff.

Over the last year my wife and I went down to one car. I’m a year in to fully immersing myself in commuter life and it’s really been a lot of fun.

Mods, please allow this. I beg you.

Selling my car when we move to Philly, might just be a transit commuter but might also pick me up a bicycle.

You really should. I mostly transit commute during daytime hours in this humidity, and the bike is essential for that last leg of the commute.

Both my wife and I bike around the neighborhood on our days off, humidity be damned. It’s very nice.

I ride a hybrid bike. I thought it would be the best of both worlds, but in my experience it has been the worst of both worlds. Heavy and slow but not capable of much. I want a lighter bike

I decided not to. My girlfriend told me that I should definitely buy it. A woman at work basically laughed at me and said that she had never seen an adult on a scooter. Plus, there is nowhere to ride it really. Sidewalks and bike lanes are a no. Maybe I can find a cheap road bike to invest in instead.
