Well if the picture of Jack and I doesn't get me out of trouble, I'll have a print out of the executive order spelling out the exemption along with my WBZ ID.

are you in one of the places that is expecting totals in feet instead of inches?

They're saying 18-24 inches for me.

Boston was on track to get clobbered, last I checked it seems to be staying more inland through CT. I like watching the radar as the two fronts duke it out on the coastline. Snow started around 7:30 here.

Shoveled once, got through 95% of Antichrist Svperstar; will probably go out in a few hours before the supposed big snow hits. Having the time to listen to albums through headphones is a treat, I don't even think about the shoveling; of course I am often listening to something loud and not Brahms... not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's been snowing all day and just seems like a normal storm on the heavy side so far. But it's supposed to pick up by 8 and not stop until Saturday morning.

Does it have to be done by a certain time? Downtown here if you have a sidewalk and its not shoveled in a certain amount of time they fine you, luckily i don't have a sidewalk

You know I've heard of things like that but never seen it enforced. Maybe in the city they make them do it.

I live in RI and the people who own my building are supposed to take care of it. They're notoriously slow, though, so if we decided we needed to do something tomorrow night, we'd probably have to shovel ourselves out. Cleaning the cars off is, of course, up to us.

Do you know the record for snowfall in your area?

Almost 28 inches.

Nearly every record in New England is from 1978; the 35th anniversary of that storm was earlier this week, so that's getting a lot of play on the news stations up here. I wasn't alive back then, but from what I understand, the intensity of this storm will in no way match that one. Also, around 100 people died in '78 in all sorts of crazy ways. People bitch and moan about the way storms are hyped up and such, but I really don't see any problem with it. There's at least one person (and probably many more) in the Boston-Providence corridor who woulda sent their five-year-old out to basically disappear if the weather man hadn't told them to.

Same, I heard it wasn't immediate snowfall but freezing cold and then a blanket of quick moving blizzard conditions. Crazy shit, the fact that people were beginning to coil in to the fetal over two days ago pretty much guarantees they'll be elsewhere before succumbing to exposure ala '78.

Roads were practically deserted. There were maybe half a dozen other cars on the interstate when I was driving home.
