hey stop waving your dicks at each other in a thread about strat!

What's your favorite beer these days, buddy?

I dont really drink beer these days. I can handle, at best, two beers at a time before feeling ready for bed/bloated/heart burn.

I had 1 pacifico the other day and that was nice.

I stick to gin/tonics, vodka/soda's, and the occasional whiskey.

Pacifico in the summer time is so lovely!

Beer has been difficult for me the past year. I can't just sit down and have a few beers anymore. The only time they go down well is after skiing. Other than that, im kind of off the beer train.

I gotcha. My wife has similar issues with beer. She can handle lighter stuff but that's about it. We've found a few good ones in the Peak label catalog that she likes.

No shame in being off beer. I get it.

How's everything else right now? Y'all staying safe and sane? Are you able to work right now?

Ready to be done though!

I can't imagine I'll have a job in my chosen field until March of 2021 (at the very VERY earliest). So, no, I'm not getting paid to work right now. I'm writing and prepping queries for my new novel. Also working on some alternative theater options with some friends. We'll see how all that goes. So, yes, busy, but no, not "working" in the sense that I'm earning an income.

Things are shitty and super tough. Every day is a goddamn struggle. Sanity is hanging on by a thread and I'm pretty burned out on our country as a whole right now. My friend is fighting the good fight and doing amazing things. I hung out with him last week (we had to keep masks on and stay 6ft apart the entire time because he's immunocompromised). He's not ready to give up and tried to inspire me to feel the same.

But it's just hard to care about a country that just doesn't give a shit at all about most of its citizens. Everything is broken. Plus it's hot as fuck! in NYC right now. Everything feels off and terrible. It's hard to find any hope at all.

But at least Gigaton is awesome!

Now that all the clapping has stopped, it's not so bad.

That's a great idea.

If teaching isn't your speed, though, what about some kind of parks work? Tour/trail guide? Some kind of leader for park activities? A National Park Ranger? Something in that circle. Have you ever looked into something like that?

Ive thought about it.

It would be nice to have a mix of something like that AND do something with music on the side.

Im scared of losing the flexibility I have. That is the only thing that keeps me in my current job. Maybe im just exhausted. perhaps im angry and bitter and burnt out.

When the market comes to a screeching halt. Will I enjoy it more? or will that just increase the changes of me being sued?

Flexibility is great. God knows that's one of the things I love about what I do, as well. But it's not the only thing keeping me there. If that one thing is the only reason you're doing it, then it's probably time to move on. There are plenty of jobs that offer flexibility and won't make you completely miserable.

But it's important to evaluate how much of your dissatisfaction and unhappiness is the actual job and how much is all the other external stuff. Until you decide that, it's going to be difficult to make an informed and rational decision.
