Hey all, sorry I dipped out a couple of months ago. I've been struggling with my own depression and have been in a weird place with some things. Thankfully, I'm coming out of it and am making some appropriate changes.

It can get better Lenny. Weed helps, finding distractions like television, books, music helps. I still need to find a decent therapist and good doctors, but am getting involved with NORML, so that's something.

welcome back, tremorjam

Glad to be back. The Cornell suicide on our wedding anniversary really threw me for a loop. I really need to find a decent therapist and new doctors. The last couple I went to haven't helped at all. Healthcare is pretty shitty where I live, so I've got to drive a bit to find anyone decent.

Hey TremorJam. I do skype sessions for 20 $ an hour. Im a crisis counsellor and I have a CBT approach. I am very apt at normal talk therapy.

The whole mental health process in this country is bizarre to me. Psychologists/counselors and psychiatrists should work hand-in-hand, but more and more people go to their counselor/psychologist for many hours, then go to a psychiatrist for like 30 minutes before he's prescribing you drugs, and most times that's without a referral from your counselor or reading anything about your mental health. I understand that a psychiatrist is really there to check on the underlying medical/physiological issues, but shouldn't the person spending most of their time with you have more input on your medication? How in the world does that make sense?

For such a human issue as mental health, the system that’s in place seem to be awfully impersonal and convoluted.

I feel much better than I did a month ago. Sometimes you go through a bad spell.
