I fear death. I don't fear the moment that life ends so much as I fear nonexistence. I suppose that's normal, but the fact that this fear is what I think about each night before going to bed doesn't seem right.

go to hell

I think I'd prefer nonexistence.

yes

One could argue that nonexistence is hell, though. A total disconnection from creation. The opposite of the promise of heaven and eternal bliss.

depends on one's belief system, i suppose

But then consider heaven; a place of eternal happiness where one wants nothing. What if your friends don't make it there? Wouldn't that bother you? If something is bothering you, is that even an eternal reward? What if the only option after death is a hell of some sort?

i do not know, sir

The Priest: There comes a time in man's search for meaning when one realises that there are no answers. And when you come to that horrible, unavoidable realization, you accept it or you kill yourself. Or you simply stop searching... I have lived a blessed life. And yet every night, when I climb into bed, turn off the lights, and stare in to the dark, I wonder... Is this all there is?
Jackie Kennedy: You wonder?
The Priest: Every soul on this planet does. But then, when morning comes, we all wake up and make a pot of coffee.
Jackie Kennedy: Why do we bother?
The Priest: Because we do. You did this morning, you will again tomorrow. But God, in his infinite wisdom, has made sure it is just enough for us.

I can't relate to this at all. A person's lack of answers is proportional to their intelligence and can limit their happiness tho. "Is this all there is?" doesnt make any sense to me either. rejecting the conditions of existence is futile and an easy way of dissavowing the impossibly dense problem of existence.

Joe Dirt: You just gotta keep on keepin' on.

who is joe dirt in this scenario?

lenny, obviously.

i didnt say things werent complicated. im just saying that there are answers and there are reasons for why things are the way there. too bad. i was hoping for a real discussion.

I stopped running for a bit in the fall and I didn't read much throughout the year. Not pursuing either of those things probably had a negative effect on my mental health to a certain extent. I look forward to hearing about your walks once you lace up again.
