what do you guys consider to be a successful interview (other than getting a job offer)?
she tells me she gets hung up on 'behavioral questions' : tell me about a time you disagreed with your boss...
i've gone on interviews that i felt were very successful and then never heard from them again, so I'm pretty clueless about what interviewers look for I guess.

tell us about your job interviews or people who you had to interview before - what's a good and/or bad interview consist of?

True story, I've always done better if I wing it rather than rehearse answers to the possible "typical" questions.

I'm no help. I've been in interviews where everything is going great and then no job offer. But one interview was a nightmare. After a few hours of stupid questions and rudeness, I basically told the interviewer that he didn't know what he was talking about. Then he offered me a job. I politely declined.

Or where you went to school, where you live, what your last job was, a personal passion and a goal and keep it under 2 minutes.

i'd worry that enthusiasm could be taken as desperation.

They just want to hear that you are willing to work late.

I thought that way too. But I think smiles and wanting to do this, or wanting to learn that is essential.

I finished up my degree work in December, and had my Masters program all lined up at another school a hundred miles away for the following fall. Being young and dumb and dating a girl who lived in the area, I decided to randomly explore another field at the cost of all of my money. So I took a semester of HR major courses.

And subsequently decided that HR, as a collection, are pretty much the stupidest people on earth.

I am. I haven't conducted an interview since August though.

Honestly, if you are qualified, say what they want to hear.
If they ask bullshit questions, make them smile or laugh.

Let me finish. Jeez.

Several years later, I got curious (bored) and decided to find out how all those dumbdumbs from the shitbag HR classes were making out. It quickly became apparent that they were making more money than me, some of them significantly so, and probably doing very little in the way of truly productive work.

We build up this infrastructure to facilitate productive achievement, and then the infrastructure ends up feeding itself from the top down.

Clearly, I should have just stuck with that goddamn degree program.

About 8-9 years ago when I lived in NYC, I went on an interview for a graphic designer position for a new hipster design startup in Brooklyn. They wined and dined me, which was nice. But talked NOTHING about the position. All they asked me was, "Can we see what's on your iPod?" I guess they liked my choice in music, so they offered me the position.

Be scripted in the adjectives used to describe yourself and try to weave in those words throughout. Flexible, team player, analytical, hard working, etc.
