Brush once a day. Mouthwash. No floss.

Typical day:

Quick and dirty brush with a conventional toothbrush in the AM.
Sonicare brush in the PM, this thing rules.
Floss 3-4 nights a week.
Tarter scraping, tongue scraping, mouthwash once a week.

Maybe I should invest in one of those Sonic thingies.

There's no way I would have ponied up on my own, but my folks had HCA points that were set to expire so they bought me one.

Brush in the morning, and at night. Use a Sonic Care. Always floss at night. Floss during the day if needed.

Plaque is a figment of the liberal media and the dental industry to scare you into buying useless appliances and pastes. Now, I've heard the arguments on both sides, and there is nothing to convince me of the need to brush your teeth.

i asked my dental hygienist this when i noticed a bottle of some sort of Listerine on the counter. she said yes and gave me a sample. then about 2 visits later, with a different dental hygienist in the same office, i noticed the Listerine bottle had been updated with the latest kind. so i asked again, and she said yes and gave me a sample.

Listerine has a death grip on the dental industry, and I DON'T TRUST IT!

Yeah, Listerine is clearly a crock of shit.

Didn't they make up the term "halitosis?"

Twice, morning and night. I feel gross if I miss either one of those.

according to Freakonomics:

Quote:
Listerine "...was invented in the nineteenth century as powerful surgical antiseptic. It was later sold, in distilled form, as both a floor cleaner and a cure for gonorrhea. But it wasn't a runaway success until the 1920s, when it was pitched as a solution for "chronic halitosis"— a then obscure medical term for bad breath. Listerine's new ads featured forlorn young women and men, eager for marriage but turned off by their mate's rotten breath. "Can I be happy with him in spite of that?" one maiden asked herself. Until that time, bad breath was not conventionally considered such a catastrophe, but Listerine changed that. As the advertising scholar James B. Twitchell writes, "Listerine did not make mouthwash as much as it made halitosis." In just seven years, the company's revenues rose from $115,000 to more than $8 million."

So they didn't really coin the term, but they twisted it into a marketing ploy to create a mild hysteria aimed at people's insecurities

My "dentist friend" says the most important thing when it comes to teeth is enamel and most people brush too much.
