There's a point in History of Sexuality where MF says "tomorrow sex will be good again" as the fever dream of the repression hypothesis and the narrative of progression it implies. Foucault critiques this, of course, and the rejection of progress narratives can be similarly found in Benjamin and Derrida, but I also wonder if this is a response to a certain cultural moment that has passed. I wonder if we're starting to experience a different sort of cultural narratology. When will sex be good again? Yesterday, 2012, before 9/11.

Did you know that the primary objective of 20th century French theory is to retain the affective structure of Catholicism within a secularist framework??.

what's the affective structure of Catholicism?

It seems to me that many movements of the 20th and 19th centuries are attempts at secularized Christianity. It won't work.
