I don't know, season 1 of The Wire is pretty fucking good.

Going through my First rewatch currently. This show is hands down better the second time and it was mind-blowing the first.

Sell me on Banshee? My library has the full series and I'm always curious.

Banshee is kind of an homage to 90s action movies (think peak Nicholas Cage) Everything is ridiculous, but it's played completely straight.

The basic premise is a just released from prison bank robber comes to a small town looking for his ex-girlfriend / bank robbery partner. He witnesses the murder of the new town sheriff and steals his identity (he was an outside hire so nobody in town knew him)

The town is run by an evil Amish kingpin, has a militant native American reservation next to it, has problems with biker and white nationalists and is also next to a military base.

I'm pretty sure most RMers would hate it, but I love how unabashedly awesome it is. For example, in an early episode the excon/sheriff's ex wife (now the mayor's wife) is assaulted by bikers, so the sheriff goes to fight them at night in the rain with a pair of batons for no reason.

Really it's a hard show to describe. Watching the first episode should give you a good idea if it's for you.

So jealous. He's the one act I most regret never having seen. I didn't even know of him til after he died.

Well the show was 12 years ago so I don’t know if they’re STILL acfive, but their set blew my 17-year-old self away. I wasn’t familiar with them at the time but boy did I become familiar after. Murphy’s voice SOARED. I think they opened with “Double Dare” and I mean...come on. How is that not gonna be great?

I wiki'd them after your post, apparently their 2008 reunion album/tour was very brief and they are no longer active. I need to head that album! It's not on Amazon, will do some digging.
