That was the kick-him-when-he's-down post, but the real knockout blow was "tree_ is a better poster than thodoks"

Switching to the Delta SkyMiles AmEx a month before Xmas was the way to go. We're gonna be eligible for 75K free miles no problem. 8-)

That's totally fine. Apple makes good products/software.

I think they make good products too. And I’m pretty happy about my Rode mic.

Who the hell has never used an Apple product?

You would be surprised.

That chart was made by a typical apple fanboy/girl. Most people I know that dislike apple have actually used their products.

It's more a case of:

A) Apple fans don't know any better.
B) Android is too complicated. i.e. There are too many options, Apple is restrictive but simple to do what they need.
C) They're too ingrained in Apple. i.e. Too much proprietary bullshit to bother moving away.

B and C for me. I have a Pixel 2 but I also carry around an ipod touch because of how many songs I have in iTunes. Plus the podcast app is miles better than anything I can find on Android. Hell, I was trying to get Google Music Manager to work for me so I could finally upload all that shit and it just won't open. Why? No clue. Lots of troubleshooting later and I'm downloading C++ redistributables and still nothing. No help from Google either as there are lots of people with the problem, no answers. Jesus.

Google Music Manager is a mess. Great in theory, but it is slow and doesn't always function properly.

I never purchased music from iTunes because of how proprietary it was. Digital music purchasing reminds me a lot of video games.

Figured out the problem with MM: There's two of 'em! The installer I was using (from Google's own pages!) wasn't the same as the one I found on Google's support pages. The second one works like a charm, other than the whole "we can't upload anything that is higher than 16-bit" so I have to put the HD music somewhere manually.

Since I'm home now: The good one is MusicManagerSetup, the bad one is musicmanagerinstaller.

Just looked at this. The $450 annual fee is offset nicely by one free companion ticket (domestic flights only) each year. I’ll duscuss with the wife.

The normal Delta AmEx card continue to be a great choice though. We put our NYC/MA travel expenses on it, and with baby stuff we’ve already got enough for another trip next year. We put about $600 of monthly recurring expenses on the card too (car payment, etc).

I’m convinced this is one of the best rewards proograms out there.

So we got an offer to upgrade to the Platinum (a tier below the Reserve, but only a $195/annual fee, and with the free companion ticket each year). Seem like the $450 fee for the Reserve is primarily for the first-class upgrades and first-class companion ticket. Something to aspire to, I guess...

But the Platinum card looks dope. Another 15K miles after we spend $1000 (no problem), same Rewards, but significantly better MQM incentives than the Gold card...And that free annual companion ticket can't be beat, because nearly all our flights in/out of Bozeman are on Delta.

More than worth our new $195 annual fee, I'd say.
