Happy Friday RM. Kind of a bittersweet one for me though; it's my last Friday of furlough. I go back to work on Monday. I was originally scheduled to return on Aug. 3 but they recalled me early. I had a vacation with the family planned for next week; haven't done one of those in years. I was able to get Wednesday-Friday off though but it sucks having to use my own time to cover it after being off so much.

Good Monday morning RM. Today I am restarting my career. I begin a three week training course, a revised version of the one new hires get. I know there will be changes and moving around but otherwise I have no idea what the next 6-12 months will hold for me. I don't think most people do.

Today is the last official day with the company for those taking the voluntary separation package. About a third of our department is leaving. Normally there would be some sort of reception or something for them but not this time. Many of them are already out on leave or burning off accumulated time so they're not here today anyway. It kind of stinks not being able to give them a proper send off or say "goodbyes" but that's the world we live in now.
